Weekend Craziness

So I thought last week was crazyyyy busy, but it had nothing on my weekend!
Saturday morning I got up in the lovey mid 30 degree weather for a 5K race to benefit the school I teach at. I completed it successfully in 32:33, not too bad and I ran with some of my coworkers and little munchkins from my class!  It was bone-chilling fun!  Had to run home and shower to go to a HUGE rivalry high school football game...well you see, I didn't go to either but have friends that coach on both sides... I was stuck in such a pickle on which side of the field to stand on... ahhhh!! SO at halftime I switched!  Let me tell you, boys these days aregrown BIG, and I mean BIG!  The game was packed and I went to the big 5th Quarter shindig after where oodles of grilling and laughing and drinking went on!
The game went into OT and the purple team won witha 41 yd field goal!

So today I got up and picked Mom up for the Metro Food and Entertaining Expo at the Washington Convention Center.  Let me tell you, if you have never driven in DC, spare yourself, especially on a Sunday... its awful!!!  Anywho, we got there and were welcomed with our little goodie bag and we had to rush off to our seats to see.....
GIADA deLAURENTIS!!! She was oh so cute and funny.. just wished we got some of the samples she cooked up!
Then we walked around to see the 350+ exhibits and bought a few goodies!  FYI: saw a TON of granola, jelly/jam and spice vendors... interesting tastings! We got to sneak in to see Paula Dean a little later in the afternoon and Mike Isabella (from Top Chef) right before we left!

Came home, went to the gym and am waiting for dinner to be done in the oven!  Hope everyone had a great weekend! :)

So today is the first day of November.. holy camole! Where did October go?  Anywho, since I knew many of the kids would be exhausted from their trick or treating extravaganzas from last night, we made pumpkin glyphs.

Aren't they darling?!

Recruiting Shenanigans

So aside from being an oh-so-fabulous 2nd grade teacher, I am a high school girls basketball coach

Not to toot my own horn, but they are pretty good and tall (yes I have 2 6'5" players) :)

Anywho, part of my job (which I may have a new one, update soon) is to recruit new girls and encourage them to join the program.  So today I went to my old high school to recruit and ohmigosh:
1. they didnt turn the heat on, and it felt like 40 below
2. I saw a girl fall and be taken off in an ambulance... here are the details: think about how your elbow bends one way, well this darling girl fell and it bent the opposit direction, yes bone and everything exposed... can I say OUCH and YOWZERRRSSS! Many people had to leave the gym to salvage losing their breakfast.

Afterwards I had a major cardio session and went to my friend (who's children I taught and has a family the population size of Oklahoma) for a Soup/Chili party... ohmiword.. Chicken tortilla soup was TO DIE FOR GOOD! Will post recipe as soon as I get my little hands on it.

Hope everyone had a great weeekend!

My First Post Ever!

Soooo I have been an avid follower of so many different blogs and as daunting as it seems, I am giving it my good ol' best try.  Today's weather was one of those, its better to have just stayed in bed then rough it in the elements kinda days.  Oh and by the way, it snowed ALL DAY, yes, I said it, its snowed BEFORE Halloween, which kinda bothers me.  It's just not natural. Anywho, I am a 2nd grade teacher ( I promise to describe more about me in future posts) and yesterday was Field Day (kinda lame) and our Halloween Parade, and I do have to say the quad group I was part of was by farrrr the best in costume.
Yes, we are ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS, SHOOT!!! (I am the scissors by the way)
