The Countdown is on: 8 days

You know when you've just had one of those weeks?!?! Maybe its just me, but this week sure has been a challenge!  Between finally tranisitioning after surgery back to my OWN home, to coming back from being out of town, to the craziness of life and times of a coach and human being... I am pooped I tell you!

As a coach I couldn't be prouder of my girls winning all our playoff games this week, as a friend... between my friend's car getting towed (my fault.... kinda) and finally catching up with my ATHB (Across The Hall Buddy) Sharon for lunch today, I am beat!

So my coaching news...well  it isn't quite what I wanted to report... so I really dont have a whole lot to say, other then I am disappointed and bummed things aren't working out as I originally hoped.  It's alright though, I have to keep my head upand keep truck a luckin with my team through this second part of their big recruiting season!

I go on vacation in 8, yes I am counting, days!  I coach in two big events next week, send my family off and the next day I get to leave myself! AMEN!

This is my place!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

OH GEEZ... Have I been slacking!

Well let's see, it's been what, uhhh way too many months since my last post! I have a good reason, well sort of.  I am officially 5 weeks post op from this way too major of a shoulder surgery I had.
See, no fun and definately not blog worthy! Anywho, I am healing, still slinging it up though.  I love to workout and its KILLING, may I repeat KILLING me that I can't do what I am used to!

Over the weekend I went to Charleston with my friend, who well is more then a friend now...hehe :)  We went out and explored the town, which was GORGEOUS! I LOVED it, we both agreed that we would move there if we could.  Day 2 of our trip we went to the Firefly Distillery where they make Firefly Vodka, Rum, Bourbon... let me tell you... YUMMMM! Peach tea vodka+peach juice= Peach plantation drink- My favorite!

That night we went to the Charleston RiverDogs baseball game: gorgeous night, fun game, good seats, and a few Peach Plantations :)

While we were down there we went shopping and ate some fabulous food- let me tell you- the French toast and pecan pancakes from Toast in Downtown Charleston are the bomb diggity! :)  We had alot of chicken for dinner and headed to Wet Willies for some frozen mixed drinkies!

Aside from the gorgeous scenery and fun people/food/drinks and shopping.. the cheap gas was a PLUS with all that driving!

I mean when are we ever gonna see gas prices back in the DMV at $3.00?  I mean I hope soon, but I'm not holding my breath!  I was so sad to come home, but stopping at the Wawa's for coffee made the trip a little better! :)

That's my recent life recap in a nutshell... I promise I will be better with posting my blogs! Hopefully, I'll have a BIG coaching announcement soon :)

Weekend Craziness

So I thought last week was crazyyyy busy, but it had nothing on my weekend!
Saturday morning I got up in the lovey mid 30 degree weather for a 5K race to benefit the school I teach at. I completed it successfully in 32:33, not too bad and I ran with some of my coworkers and little munchkins from my class!  It was bone-chilling fun!  Had to run home and shower to go to a HUGE rivalry high school football game...well you see, I didn't go to either but have friends that coach on both sides... I was stuck in such a pickle on which side of the field to stand on... ahhhh!! SO at halftime I switched!  Let me tell you, boys these days aregrown BIG, and I mean BIG!  The game was packed and I went to the big 5th Quarter shindig after where oodles of grilling and laughing and drinking went on!
The game went into OT and the purple team won witha 41 yd field goal!

So today I got up and picked Mom up for the Metro Food and Entertaining Expo at the Washington Convention Center.  Let me tell you, if you have never driven in DC, spare yourself, especially on a Sunday... its awful!!!  Anywho, we got there and were welcomed with our little goodie bag and we had to rush off to our seats to see.....
GIADA deLAURENTIS!!! She was oh so cute and funny.. just wished we got some of the samples she cooked up!
Then we walked around to see the 350+ exhibits and bought a few goodies!  FYI: saw a TON of granola, jelly/jam and spice vendors... interesting tastings! We got to sneak in to see Paula Dean a little later in the afternoon and Mike Isabella (from Top Chef) right before we left!

Came home, went to the gym and am waiting for dinner to be done in the oven!  Hope everyone had a great weekend! :)

Pumpkin Glyphs

So today is the first day of November.. holy camole! Where did October go?  Anywho, since I knew many of the kids would be exhausted from their trick or treating extravaganzas from last night, we made pumpkin glyphs.

Aren't they darling?!

Recruiting Shenanigans

So aside from being an oh-so-fabulous 2nd grade teacher, I am a high school girls basketball coach

Not to toot my own horn, but they are pretty good and tall (yes I have 2 6'5" players) :)

Anywho, part of my job (which I may have a new one, update soon) is to recruit new girls and encourage them to join the program.  So today I went to my old high school to recruit and ohmigosh:
1. they didnt turn the heat on, and it felt like 40 below
2. I saw a girl fall and be taken off in an ambulance... here are the details: think about how your elbow bends one way, well this darling girl fell and it bent the opposit direction, yes bone and everything exposed... can I say OUCH and YOWZERRRSSS! Many people had to leave the gym to salvage losing their breakfast.

Afterwards I had a major cardio session and went to my friend (who's children I taught and has a family the population size of Oklahoma) for a Soup/Chili party... ohmiword.. Chicken tortilla soup was TO DIE FOR GOOD! Will post recipe as soon as I get my little hands on it.

Hope everyone had a great weeekend!

My First Post Ever!

Soooo I have been an avid follower of so many different blogs and as daunting as it seems, I am giving it my good ol' best try.  Today's weather was one of those, its better to have just stayed in bed then rough it in the elements kinda days.  Oh and by the way, it snowed ALL DAY, yes, I said it, its snowed BEFORE Halloween, which kinda bothers me.  It's just not natural. Anywho, I am a 2nd grade teacher ( I promise to describe more about me in future posts) and yesterday was Field Day (kinda lame) and our Halloween Parade, and I do have to say the quad group I was part of was by farrrr the best in costume.
Yes, we are ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS, SHOOT!!! (I am the scissors by the way)
